I don't need no medication to run away from bad decisions
I don't need a destination, a destination, a destination
My body was left in limbo, got a high bounty but no cheese no mayo
Cuz I'm just a sicko sicko, just a sicko sicko, just a sicko sicko
Should've known how, can't see straight
Should've yelled help, now too late
Hold on tight, changes take overnight
Hold on tight, be shedding in the moonlight
Prep with low hopes
No damage control
I don't need no medication to run away from bad decisions
I don't need a destination, a destination, a destination
My body was left in limbo, got a high bounty but no cheese no mayo
Cuz I'm just a sicko sicko, just a sicko sicko, just a sicko sicko
Shut up and talk, a disgrace
Spilling some blood, I'm okay
Hold on tight, 20/20 hindsight
Hold on tight, hitting on the bull's eye
A sense of hope
Went down the stairs, facing a thousand years
(just a sicko sicko, just a sicko sicko)
Went down in the fire as if I care
(just a sicko sicko, just a sicko sicko)
I don't need no medication to run away from bad decisions
I don't need a destination, a destination, a destination
My body was left in limbo, got a high bounty but no cheese no mayo
Cuz I'm just a sicko sicko, just a sicko sicko, just a sicko sicko
Following their acclaimed 2022 album Ama Gogela (Nyege Nyege Tapes) and multiple European tours in 2023, South African gqom superstars Phelimuncasi drop a blazing track under FPE's FPELV banner. "Meyo" blasts out of the gate with a chiming, spacious beat that insists on bodily compliance. Delivered in isiZulu, Khera's and Nana's lyrics celebrate mayonnaise, a classic condiment made of oil, vinegar, and egg yolks. "We used meyo to express our sweetness of the song, how nice it isβ¦."
"Meyo" builds on the formula established with tracks like "I Don't Feel My Legs": bombastic beat drama bombing the ears, shrinking down the focus to a few powerful elements, a sweat-drenched terrain filled with cryptic lyrics evoking an uneasy respite from dark drama. Such is the politics of the dancefloor in 2023: things are pretty fucked all around but we've got sweet, sweet mayo.

Situated somewhere on the path to define herself on her own terms, Psyclo's "No Cheese No Mayo" ranges wildly through dangerous thoughts, without concern for outcome. Her lyrics emphatically rejecting destination, she acknowledges mistakes, regret and frustration as the price of a life fully engaged in painful discovery, without guardrails.
Dropping in the wake of the 2023 album Shxffle, and a string of pandemic-era EPs and singles exploring dark alternative balladry, this sharp turn to guitar-powered rage is a fresh environment for Psyclo's characteristically cathartic explorations, and it feels so right. Hitting the guitar so hard the blood bleeds out, she's daring you to hear her. Have you missed Corgan since Mellon Collie? Have you wanted to know that your people exist? Psyclo's looking for you. Come into her fold.

Drawing influence from Chicago Footwork, UK Jungle, and early Dubstep from South London, "Floating Compression" conveys an ongoing attempt from producer Brett Mohr to balance heaviness and weightlessness. Suspended in a zone of kinesthetic shaking and jittering, a wordless vocal somewhere in the middle of the pitch spectrum punctuates shifting moods with balanced impact. The body hesitates, the mind attempts a response, and that Shackleton rumble reassures, reinforces, resets, destabilizes.
Foregoing ego, Mohr's work on this track foregrounds the now, shrinking time and space into an instant of body/mind oneness, simultaneously exploding an eternal Big Bang where motion equals stasis. Dial this one into your next club mix and watch the track ID requests roll in.

Since 2020, over the course of two beloved albums and a handful of EPs, Bay Area producer Tomu DJ has quietly pioneered a singular vision of electronic music, pairing mindful ambience with wide-awake rhythms for a powerfully soothing, emotionally potent sound. Following 2022's breakthrough Half Moon Bay, she returns with "eXtra Super Deluxe", a slice of warm allure delivered for FPE Records under the new FPELV banner.
"Deluxe" is eight minutes of smooth, frosted cupcake, a stop in a cute cafe in a quiet town on the coast for a latte and scone, the early-fall sun dappling the sidewalk outside through golden maple leaves. Tomu here unhurriedly builds a heavenly texture from a simple arpeggiated progression and a clattering beat borrowed from footwork, here transformed from its nervous, jittery roots into something like the glittering crystals adorning a sumptuous chandelier. On its own or deftly dropped into the mix, it's a piece of rest and recharge, a new Music for Airports for a moment in time that really needs to chill out.
